The Plenary of Congress approved in the second vote an opinion that establishes measures to safeguard the labor rights of cancer diagnosed workers.
The initiative, prepared by the Labor Commission, obtained 81 votes in favor, none against and an abstention. The proposal had already received green light in the first vote on December 11, 2024.
The standard seeks to guarantee the job stability of people who are going through oncological treatment. Among the approved provisions, protection against unjustified dismissals are included, even when the employee works less than four hours a day, in the trial period or performs a trust position.
The opinion also contemplates the teleworking option for workers who require it during their recovery, as well as the right to a temporary disability subsidy due to the disease.
