The Chamber of Deputies approved on Wednesday the bill that modifies the Municipal Organic Law and allows 22-year-olds to be mayors and from 20 years old, councillors.
Raúl Latorre, deputy, pointed out that the objective is to transform the discourse of including youth into a reality.
«We seek to transform into fact the eternal discourse of the need for the participation of young people. Having done so much since youth, I cannot believe that a Paraguayan at 22 years old cannot be a mayor or that at 20 years old he cannot be a councilman”, he stated.
The document goes to the Executive for its promulgation or veto.
