Congress approves Dina Boluarte's request for the United States military to enter Peru with weapons of war for APEC

The mission of the troops will be to provide logistical, administrative and security support before, during and after the development of APEC activities. In total, the movement of 600 troops has been authorized, who will be equipped with weapons of war and various communication and support equipment. Army, Air Force and Marine Corps will be the North American bodies present.

Among the authorized equipment, two B-747-200B aircraft, four Blackhawk helicopters, and weapons such as rifles, pistols and advanced surveillance systems stand out. In addition, staff will have medical evacuation vehicles and communication equipment to coordinate security actions at the summit venues.

One of the highlights of the request is that the entry of the troops and their equipment will not imply any additional expenses for the Peruvian State, since all costs will be covered by the United States Department of Defense. The cost-benefit analysis of the resolution indicates that the presence of North American military personnel will contribute to security capabilities and allow better coordination during the event.
