Santo Domingo. – The National Assembly (Senate and Chamber of Deputies) approved this Wednesday the minutes of election of Luis Abinader and Raquel Peña as president and vice president of the Republic, for the period 2024-2028, and the transfer of the headquarters of the National Assembly to the Eduardo Brito National Theater for its swearing-in.
The assembly members approved a resolution that provides for the transfer of the headquarters of the National Assembly to the Carlos Piantini room of the Eduardo Brito National Theater, located in the Plaza de la Cultura, to swear in President Abinader and Vice President Peña on August 16, for a second term until 2028.
The proceedings took place in the National Assembly Hall, led by its president, Ricardo de los Santos (Senate), and Alfredo Pacheco (Deputies) as vice president, in accordance with Article 120, paragraph 3 of the Dominican Constitution.
After approving the favorable report presented by a commission of assembly members who reviewed the minutes sent by the Central Electoral Board (JCE), containing the results of the last electoral process and which indicates that the presidential candidacy presented by the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) and allies obtained 2 million 507, 297 votes.

The Commission was headed by Pacheco and was made up of Faride Raful, Olfanny Mendez, Melania Salvador, Agustin Burgos, Milciades Franjul, Soraya Nelsa Suarez, Julito Fulcar, Dionis Sanchez, Tobias Crespo, Yvan Lorenzo, Luis Henriquez, Ramon Rogelio Genao, Maximo Castro, Braulio de Jesus, Jose Benedicto Hernandez, Pedro Martinez and Victor Suarez.
The meeting also approved a resolution calling for the National Assembly to proclaim the President and Vice President of the Republic for the period 2024-2028, after the minutes were declared good and valid, as they are in accordance with the Constitution and the laws.
The National Assembly created a commission of legislators to deliver the certification to those elected, composed of Olfanny Mendez, Julito Fulcar, Gustavo Sanchez, Hamlet Sanchez, Maximo Castro, Victor Suarez, Agustin Burgos, Soraya Suarez, Braulio Espinal, Pedro Martinez, Benedicto Hernandez and Rafaela Alburquerque, representing the Chamber of Deputies; and for the Senate Ricardo de los Santos, Ramon Pimentel, Melania Salvador, Eddy Nolasco, Dionis Sanchez, Ramon Rogelio Genao, Ginnette Bournigal and Milciades Franjul.
