The Plenary of Congress approved en bloc the proposal of the Special Commission to designate as Board members of the Central Reserve Bank (BCR) to the economists Inés Choy, Diego Macera and Carlos Oliva.
The proposal was approved with 76 votes in favor, 37 against and zero abstentions.
In this way, the three economists complete the new board of directors of the monetary entity, which is chaired by Julio Velarde and that already has the other three seats occupied by Roxana Barrantes, José Ignacio Távara and Germán Alarco, elected by the Executive.
Among the three new directors, Inés Choy stands out as an economist who up to now has served as the central operations manager of the BCR, an entity of which she has also been a part since 1994.
The Economist Diego Macera stands out for his constant contribution to the country through the Peruvian Institute of Economics (IPE), in which he holds the position of general manager, while Carlos Oliva has a long history, having been Minister of Economy and Finance between June 2018 and October 2019. Oliva, in addition, is currently president of the Fiscal Council.
