The figures for carnival will be only 3 stars
From the Events Area of the Departmental Administration of Cerro Largo they have already confirmed the figures that will participate in the first parades – Saturday 14, Sunday 15 and Monday 16 February 2026 – of the Melense carnival.
Gianina Silva, Cecilia “La Reina” Comunales and Nadia Valverde will be gracing the main party of the capital city.
An agreement was not reached with other well-known starlets because it was considered that the Departmental Government is not in a position to pay their cash, which amounts to about USD 6,500.
“We now call them guests because in reality I invited them to participate in the Melo carnival by explaining to them the economic situation we are in, they agreed to come because of what we offered them. That deserves a big applause” stood out Fabián Martínez.
“With the others we have not been able to negotiate because the cache is too high. I would much rather bring two groups, whether they are lubolos or samba, or some tropical artist for a stage than to pay USD 6,500 for a figure, money that we do not have” argument.
“Everyone charges what they want, we are not going to set the price on anyone, but we as a Departmental Government cannot invest that money. At least while I am in charge of Events, I am not going to allow Christian (Morel) let him do that crazy thing. I prefer to prioritize even Melo’s groups” held.
THE FIRST THREE DAYS WITH EVERYONE
“The first three days – Saturday, Sunday and Monday – we are going to bet exclusively on local groups. We are going to do it very strongly with the guests that have already been confirmed. On those three days the traditional Melo carnival will be held with candombe, samba and electric trios” Martínez stressed.
“On Thursday the 19th we are going to the Municipal Summer Theater to do a mini presentation of some local groups with a contest of highlights and fantasies” advertisement.
The closing will be with the performance of Lucas Sugo.
“On Friday the 20th we return to Saravia for the Samba Schools parade. Those from Melo will be there, not all because some will be absent in the case of Pantera Cor de Rosa and La Cuchilla, along with two Schools from Montevideo -Mocidades and Preto and Branco-, with Rampla (Champion of Artigas) and for the first time Emperatriz del Progreso (promoted from B to A in Artigas). There are also 3 schools from Yaguarón plus a “bloco” advancement.
CLOSING TO ALL CANDOMBE
“On Saturday the 21st, on the last night, there will only be candombe. Several groups come from outside. We have Cuareim 1080 as the main dish, but we are also going to bring Sara del Cordón” revealed the Events Manager of the Municipality of Cerro Largo.
“Fortaleza Candombera is also coming from Montevideo and 4 very good groups from Tacuarembó plus two from the city of Treinta y Tres” he stated.
“We are going to close with more than 20 candombe groups. There will be an impressive display, a kind of mini calls in Cerro Largo so that people can enjoy” said Fabián Martínez.
