In the last hours the authorities confirmed a massacre registered in the department of Chocóexactly in the municipality of Río Quito, a rural area of that department.
According to information from the authorities, this massacre left four people dead, of which, up to now, three of them have not been recognizedand work is being done to identify these bodies, which, presumably, they would be pointed out as members of illegal groups and it would be a settling of scores between these groups.
As it became known, one of the victims was a signatory to the peace agreement, identified as Suil Bejarano.

For his part, The Ombudsman’s Office issued an early warning follow-up report to the municipalities of Río Quito, El Cantón de San Pablo and Cértegui. All this, because different illegal groups are currently in territorial and economic disputes, where reference is made to the issue of mining, logging and illegal crops.
All this, As reported by Indepaz, it generates risks for the inhabitants of these sectorstaking into account that the level of vulnerability increases greatly, since in these territories it refers to presence of illegal groups such as the ELN, the Gaitanista Self-Defense Forces of Colombia and other local illegal groups.

It must be remembered that there are also other sectors recently affected, as was the case in Bagadó, Chocó. The Manuel Hernández Western War Front of the ELN is present therean organization that in two years has expanded and strengthened in this area of the department of Choco.
Finally, according to figures from the Institute for Development and Peace Studies, Indepaz, In Colombia, 33 massacres have been committed so far in 2023.
