The National Confederation of Private Business Institutions (Confiep) called for calm and social peace so that Peru can get out of this crisis that has been generated by the violent acts that take place in different parts of the country.
“It is necessary to call for a broader dialogue in the National Agreement. Peruvians want union and work to prosper”, the union said in a statement.
Likewise, Confiep argued that violence affects millions of Peruvians who cannot move freely, thousands of micro and small entrepreneurs who want to continue with their lives to feed their families after the strong economic recession that caused the pandemic.
“These violent actions prevent children from attending their study centers and prevent people with medical emergencies from receiving care. Violence brings pain and generates poverty”, he added.
He also regretted the loss of life of eight Peruvians, including two minors, as a result of the violent actions in recent days.
They do not accept the constitutional order
“The self-coup of former President Castillo revealed his anti-democratic essence and wanted to stop investigations into alarming signs of corruption in his immediate environment, so much so that all his ministers resigned and the vacancy was approved with votes from congressmen from their own ranks, followed by the constitutional succession of Dina Boluarte”, recalled the union.
Along these lines, the business institution mentioned that some groups, “equally undemocratic, they do not accept constitutional order or the rule of law, and resort to violence as a tool to achieve their political goals”.
“As a consequence, we are witnessing attacks on police stations, airport seizures, road blockades, attacks on law enforcement, assaults on the media, and vandalism at private companies and public facilities.”, he pointed out.
