Union leader Guillermo Puga was re-elected as Secretary General of the Confederation of Workers of the Republic of Panama (CTRP) for a new period where he said that one of the fundamental points will be to focus on the issue of defending the Social Security Fund.
Puga pointed out that in the National Assembly of Deputies there has been a proposal in this regard for a year that was presented by the National Council of Organized Workers (CONATO) where it seeks to put a brake on all official, private and group actions that have been determined to abuse and take advantage of the Social Security Fund in conditions that are unacceptable from any point of view.
He assured that at the time it was indicated that the hardest blow to the Caja’s institutional framework was Law 51 of December 27, 2005, insofar as it was the product of a neoliberal policy that aims to take social security by storm and deprive a huge part of the national population of the human right to a safe and decent life.
“Since its inception, the labor and popular movement has not concealed its opposition to this Law and it has been demonstrated, with abundant analysis and documented evidence, the inequity of its content and its disastrous results that started with the premeditated destruction of the solidarity system,” I reiterate. the union leader.
He reiterated that they will enter a stage of struggle where the union movement must be more united to face a series of situations that harm the situation of workers who have been affected as a result of the pandemic and the live play of some employers.
