With a view to reactivating the country’s economy through domestic tourism, the National Council of Private Enterprise (Conep) held a Council with its members, where they discussed incentives conducive to reviving and promoting activity in areas of the interior of the Republic.
In this meeting in which the National Assembly, the Tourism Authority of Panama and other entities of the tourism sector participated, the conclusion was reached that it is essential that any law-making process must be the consequence of a participatory debate that Let the result be the best for society.
They also discussed Bill 789, which creates incentives for the promotion of tourism in the country, which they ask to be sanctioned by the President of the Republic “and thus allow its scope to reach a plural number of investors”,
According to Conep, there are currently 39 projects in the interior of the country that add up to many millions of Balboas, which will generate thousands of jobs; for which they consider that without the necessary incentives, which would bring about the veto of the law, it would be inconvenient for the country and tourism.
Conep stressed that if the Law is vetoed, Law 122 would remain in force, which in its opinion has serious inconsistencies that make it unacceptable. The businessmen requested to participate in the eventual process of Regulation of the new Law that must be carried out urgently. They ask to form a permanent table that, in coordination with the Tourist Office, works on the correct fulfillment of the Law, the formulation of criteria that perfect it and the promotion of tourism.
