CONEP advocates dialogue and search for consensus in the tax reform process

CONEP aboga por diálogo y búsqueda de consenso en proceso de reforma fiscal

He National Council of Private Enterprise (CONEP) reaffirms its commitment to promoting a broad and constructive dialogue around the draft Tax Modernization Law presented by the Government.

We recognize the importance of generating additional resources that allow the State to meet the demands of the population in terms of services and infrastructure. However, we consider that this process should be supported by opening spaces for active listening and consensus, as a means to identify opportunities for improvement in the project.

CONEP calls on National Congress to continue the dialogue process that began in the Ministry of Finance, opening a forum that receptively allows the various sectors of the economy to express their concerns and approaches.

We firmly believe that, through understanding and participation, progress can be made towards a reform that favors both the fiscal sustainability of the State and the growth and competitiveness of the private sector.

Comprehensively addressing the proposed reforms is essential so that they contribute to the construction of a Sustainable and resilient Dominican Republic. Any reform must seek to generate jobs by reducing informality, generating a climate of confidence for investment, as well as increasing competitiveness and productivity.

In this sense, CONEP reiterates its willingness to collaborate in the construction of agreements that generate a balanced regulatory framework, in which the needs of the country are combined with the strengthening of the economy and the well-being of all Dominicans.
