A few months before the end of his mandate, the president Ivan Duke Marquez spoke before him Security Council of the United Nations (UN).
This was the first and last speech as head of state before said institution, although he had already spoken in the UN General Assembly (in September of each year).
The Security Council is made up of 15 countries and its mission is to maintain security and peace in the world.
The central axis of his speech was the presentation of the balance made by the National Government of the implementation of the peace agreements of Havana through the Policy of Peace with Legality.
