Within the framework of the Month of French Culture in Cuba, the chamber duo made up of the French violinist Manon Galy and the Cuban pianist Jorge González Buajasán will be offering two concerts this week.
The first of them will take place this Wednesday, May 31, at 6:00 pm, in the Minor Basilica of the San Francisco de Asís Convent, where a Franco-German musical program will be offered.
Then, the musical duo will arrive at the Martí Theater on Saturday, June 3, at 7:00 pm, with an exclusively French musical program.
In the notes to the program of these presentations it is reported that “after growing up 7,500 km away, between Havana and the south of France, it was in Paris where Jorge González Buajasán and Manon Galy met while they were studying music at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Music et de Danse. It was an instant musical and human love, at first sight, that quickly led them to perform together. These two concerts in Havana are symbolic for them: they represent the sharing and rich cultural exchange that deeply characterizes their duo. By offering two predominantly French programs on Cuban soil, Manon and Jorge pay homage to their origins by uniting them through a universal language: music.”
