This Monday, March 13, at 7:30 p.m., the Dante Alighieri school (Alberdi corner Humaitá) will celebrate its 128 years with a show, which will be led by the pianist Massimo Folliero, who will offer a concert with works by Chopin, Bach and Busoni. The activity will take place in the Giuseppe Verdi Hall of the institution, the main center of Italian culture, where attendees will also be able to appreciate the performance of the Dante Choir and the exhibition of paintings “Artour-o e il Rispetto”.
Folliero will offer a concert with two parts, in the first, he will perform works by Chopin (Scherzo no. 1 op. 2, Scherzo no. 2 op. 31 and Fantasia op. 49) and in the second part he will play something from the repertoire of Bach and busoni (Preludi Corali 1st book and Chaconne dalla Partita in Re min. BWV 1004). In the interval, the Dante Choir will offer Va Pensieroof Giuseppe Verdiand the popular Italian song Torna a Surriento.
Massimo Folliero He has made presentations on important venues in more than 25 countries around the world, such as the Muza Kawasaki Symphony Hall in Tokyo, Carnegie Hall in New York, the Frye Art Museum in Seattle, the Ateneo de Madrid Assembly Hall and Trinity College Music Society in Cambridge, among others. Currently, he is the Principal Piano Chair at the Antonio Vivaldi Conservatory in Alexandria.
The history of the institution began on March 14, 1895, when the Italian Societies of Mutual Aid and Margherita di Savoia decided to found a scuola (school) in Asunción. Currently, the school is located on Alberdi and Humaitá streets and, since 1981, it has another branch in Fernando de la Mora.
EXHIBITION ARTOUR-O and il RISPETTO
In addition to Folliero, it will arrive from Florence, Italy, “Artour-o e il Rispetto”an exhibition of paintings with the participation of Italian artists who have been joined by invited Paraguayan artists and children from the Asunción Creative Painting Workshop.
All of them took on the challenge of transmitting, for the first time, an image of respect, previously presented in 2022 by the compatriot Fiorella Bittar. The project was developed by Ellequadro Documenti and will remain in the country for a few months to also involve the students of the Dante Alighieri College.
