Santo Domingo.-The Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), the Academy of Sciences of the Dominican Republic and the Association of Environmental Lawyers expressed concern this Saturday about the appointment of the lawyer and businessman Armando Paino Henriquez minister of Environmenta person unknown to the sector.
They fear that his lack of experience in environmental issues will prevent him from complying with the mandates of Law 64-00 on the subject.
“For the environmental sector, this man is completely unknown. We don’t know his capabilities. We don’t know if he has any plans, because we have never heard him speak publicly about the issue nor do we know of any document he has produced,” said Luis Carvajal, coordinator of the Environmental Commission of the UASD.
