In Quindío, concern is increasing after the decision of the San Rafael Clinic to suspend services in Armenia, a measure that affects around 240 thousand users and is attributed to outstanding debts. Patients and observers warn that the situation is getting worse and limits access to health care.
People affiliated with the Nueva EPS in Quindío see the outlook darker, given a new suspension of services by the San Rafael Clinic located in the north of Armenia. There are around 240 thousand affected users in the department.
In a statement issued by the private IPS, the suspension of services to people affiliated with this entity in the departments of Quindío and Risaralda was announced. arguing that a significant debt remains that is causing serious damage in operations and difficulties in fulfilling obligations with health personnel, suppliers and other actors.

Although at a general level there have been conciliation tables between the EPS and the IPS that provide their services in this region, which have left important economic agreements to overcome the difficulties, It seems that part of the commitments have not been fulfilledwhich leads to these types of decisions.
Nueva EPS users such as Tatiana Giraldo, stated that the situation becomes delicate when more and more are restricted services and options are reduced.
“I hope they solve this problem soon because tomorrow we don’t know how we are going to continue with our health if we need the services; we are not going to have timely attention and there they are violating our right to health,” said Tatiana.

The president of the Nueva EPS Users Association in Quindío, Roberto Acosta Garcés, recalled that months ago the suspension of services had already been generated and now the decision consists of only attending to vital emergencies. which he described as a regrettable decision that generates more crisis for patients.
“It is one more of the clinics and hospitals that are going to serve Nueva EPS patients because it does not comply with the payments to which it has committed. The San Juan de Dios hospital in Armenia does not treat patients from this entityonly vital emergencies. On other occasions, the La Sagrada Familia Clinic has also closed services to Nueva EPS users, so we are in a very critical situation,” the observer said.
The health observer pointed out that the intervention of the New EPS by the national government has the situation of the entity has become more seriousbefore this action was filed.
