Santo Domingo. – The National Council for the Aging Person (CONAPE) received medicines valued at one million, 500 thousand pesos, through a donation made by the Fundación el Buen Samaritano de La Romana after considering laudable, the actions carried out by the institution for the benefit of the older adults.
Dr. José García Ramírez, executive director of CONAPE, received the donation from Moisés Sifrén, president of the El Buen Samaritano foundation and administrator of the hospital of the same name, in La Romana, during a visit he made to the facilities of the main headquarters of the institution that protects the elderly.
“We come to this office to put ourselves at your disposal for any medical supplies that you need from what we have in our warehouses, because you work with a population that deserves recognition, respect, dedication and understanding,” said Mr. Sifrén.
“We have medicines in sufficient quantity, including vitamins with which we can supply all the women giving birth in the country, during the 9 months of pregnancy. What we need is that they channel it through the corresponding means, so that these reach those who really need it and do not have the possibility of acquiring them, she specified.
He added that the stage of older adulthood is of such importance for the El Buen Samaritano foundation that by 2024 they will build a nursing home that will have the modality of asylum and day home, simultaneously and it will be raised in Villa beautiful, one of the largest municipalities in the province.
On his side, Dr. García Ramírez stressed that all the processes that correspond to authorize CONAPE for this type of contribution are guaranteed, since it is an institution with a history of collaborating with the noble cause of supporting the elderly.
On behalf of CONAPE, the official thanked the supplies, claiming that they are of great value for the performance of the institution and “we guarantee that these medicines will reach the hands of each elderly person who needs them.”
He added that they can be “sure that this donation will be known at the next ordinary meeting of the Board of Directors, and incidentally we invite you to said meeting, so that you are present and can learn about all the sectors that make up said structure.”
“We highly value the donations that institutions like El Buen Samaritano make to us, because they have been of great value to CONAPE, since the elderly have many demands, in the social order, health, occupational therapy, recreation, among others that require specific care in the elderly.
