The National Council of Humanities, Sciences and Technologies (Conahcyt) made the computer system available to the public Angeluswhich was developed with the National Search Commission (CNB) to identify patterns and clues that help locate missing persons during the dirty war (1965-1990).

The program, which allows large amounts of information to be organized to find relationships between them, and the documents that have been processed by it, can be used by justice institutions, groups of relatives of missing persons, researchers and anyone interested.

During the development of the project AngelusAccording to Conahcyt, information was found on 2,770 victims, 1,240 alleged perpetrators and 663 institutions involved, including security bodies and guerrilla organizations in the states of Guerrero, Mexico City, Morelos, Oaxaca, Veracruz, Michoacán, the State of Mexico and Puebla.

Last January, in an interview with The Daythe then director of Search Operations of the CNB, Javier Yankelevich, revealed that Angelus It was used in planning for the entry of survivors and relatives of victims of the dirty war to Military Camp 1, since it was part of the sources used to identify the people who attended the unprecedented inspection in September 2022.

On the portal https://security.conahcyt.mx/guerra-sucia/angelus The program components are found here, such as an application to record which entities and which relationships are mentioned in the different documents, as well as the programming interface that allows reading and writing a knowledge graph in order to represent relationships in a database.

Conahcyt highlighted that during the dirty war and in subsequent attempts to investigate the events, thousands of documents were generated that are currently relevant to clarifying the serious human rights violations of this period, and through archival processes and custom-developed software, information can be extracted from some of them to help plan search actions and collection of testimonies.
