To ensure the food security of Brazilians during the pandemic, the National Supply Company (Conab) allocated more than 1.7 million basic food baskets to groups such as quilombolas, indigenous people, fishermen and extractivists in 2021 “It was a work that we had several partnerships with some states to do the logistics because it is not easy”, said the president of Conab, Guilherme Ribeiro, in an interview with the program The Voice of Brazil this Thursday (11). This year, more than 875 thousand baskets were donated.
Another point addressed by the interview was the estimate of this year’s grain harvest, released this Thursday. The estimate reached 271.4 million tons, especially corn, which had record production in this second harvest. “It is worth noting that we managed to export approximately 40 million tons, generating savings, generating income for the country in terms of investment and also in the pocket of the producer,” he said.
Ribeiro also spoke about how the data collected by the company can help the farmer to plan his actions. These data are in site from Conab and applications.
