Compulsory Insurance for Motor Vehicles: project appears on the agenda

Hoy Paraguay

For the second consecutive Thursday, the compulsory insurance project for Motor Vehicles is on the agenda for today’s session in the Senate.

The full Senate will make another attempt to deal with the project that establishes the Compulsory Insurance for Motor Vehicles (SOA), presented by legislators Fernando Silva Facetti, Fidel Zavala, Georgia Arrúa, Carlos Gómez Zelada, Gilberto Apuril and Juan Bartolomé Ramírez.

According to the text, the application will be mandatory for all automotive or motorized vehicles that circulate on public land roads, within the National Territory.

The objective of creating the insurance is to provide an instrument to cover damages to people in vehicular traffic accidents that require medical, hospital, surgical, pharmaceutical assistance, or whose result causes disability or death.

The Legislation, Codification, Justice and Labor Commission, chaired by Enrique Bacchetta, issued a favorable opinion with modifications. Details of the suggested changes will be released during the session.

Other legislators from the Health Commission recommend rejection, claiming that this is not the time for new demands.
