Comptroller's Office filed an investigation against Lasso for tax havens

The entity notified, this Tuesday, December 7, 2021, the President of the Republic, Guillermo Lasso, the opinion of the file of the process.

The decision of the Comptroller it happened like result of a special examination at Republic President. The objective of the process was “to determine the existence of the infringement and the responsibility for the presumption of being the direct or indirect owner of goods or capital, in jurisdictions or regimes considered as tax havens”.

In the special exam, Comptroller did not find “Objective elements” that demonstrate that the President, on the dates of registration of the candidacy for president of the Republic, has infringed the rules of the Organic Law for the application of the Referendum carried out in February 2019. These regulations promoted an ethical pact so that applicants to Carondelet do not have property or money in tax havens.

The Comptroller performs the special examination to verify that the sworn statement of assets submitted by the President Guillermo Lasso Include all property owned by the examinee, their spouse or common-law partner, and minor children.
