Reports from the Comptroller’s Office revealed serious deficiencies in infrastructure and equipment in the PNP police stations of El Tambo, Huancayo and Chupaca, affecting the safety of police personnel and citizen service.

In El Tambo, the police station operates without a Building Safety Certificate, on less land than required and with a severe lack of equipment: only seven of the thirty computers work and several printers and equipment used belong to the police themselves. The agency also does not have the SIPCOP system or the Sector Patrol Plan, and lacks basic implements such as shields and helmets for motorized vehicles.
In Huancayo, the Comptroller’s Office identified severe structural damage to columns, walls and ceilings of the administrative building, posing a risk of collapse. Added to this is deteriorated furniture in rest areas and customer service, including chairs and equipment provided by the staff themselves due to the lack of institutional resources.

The most critical situation was recorded in Chupaca, where the police station was once again confirmed to be at very high risk of collapse due to humidity, exposed steel, deteriorated ceilings and exposed electrical wiring. Of the 18 assigned vehicles, only five are operational. In addition, there are only 13 bulletproof vests for 202 police officers, all of them more than 30 years old, and the agency does not have the geo-referential map to monitor protection measures dictated by the Judiciary.
The Comptroller’s Office has demanded that the Junín Police Region implement corrective actions immediately to guarantee the continuity of the police service and the safety of the population.
