The Comptroller General of the Republic announced the execution of inspections and request for complementary information to the Municipality of Providencia. This, after the denunciation of former officials of the municipality who were forced to infiltrate the “front line” during the mobilizations that occurred in the framework of the social outbreak.
These infiltrations, functions unrelated to the work of the former inspectors, who recorded the marches using public funds in order to obtain information regarding the protesters, confessed to Chilevision that said order came from the mayor, Evelyn Matthei downwards.
“I was the first line by order of my headquarters. I had to be infiltrated, although I did not want to do it, I had to do it,” denounced one of those affected, who received monetary compensation “so that everything would come to nothing,” he said. .
Another of the complainants is Fredy Cerda, a former municipal official who accused Mirna Campos, a former police officer hired as chief of operations, of giving the order.
“In the year 2019 we are forced to form a team of five people, whose purpose was to infiltrate and gather information on the marches, which occurred in the social outbreak,” he declared.
Given this scenario, the Comptroller’s Office announced that it is carrying out various audits and requests for additional information to the Municipality of Providencia, so that it provides details of the accusation against it.

In this way, it is expected that during the coming weeks, once the information has been collected from the former denouncing officials and the mayor of Providencia, Evelyn Matthei, on behalf of the municipality, the measures corresponding to the infiltrations in the mobilizations will be taken.
