The stalemate in the election of the Ombudsman affected the call proposal to elect a new Comptroller, which was proposed by the leaders of the Movement Towards Socialism (MAS), in the Senate and Deputies, Leonardo Loza and Gualberto Aripe, who are from the line seen in the legislature.

On May 4, the “draft regulation for the selection and appointment of the Comptroller or Comptroller” was presented. The Commission of Planning, Economic Policy and Finances of the Senate had foreseen the approval of this document yesterday. However, the treatment was postponed.

“The commitment of this commission is to be able to carry out in the best way and with absolute transparency (the selection of the Comptroller), but also seeking the necessary consensus so that we do not carry out a session like yesterday (Thursday), that we can go to an election , returning to another election”, said the president of the delegation, Eva Luz Humérez.

The parliamentarian indicated that the postponement of the approval of the regulation to elect the Comptroller is so that the opposition groups can analyze the document and that there are no impasses such as those that have recently occurred. In addition, she stated that as legislators she cannot allow her work to be seen as irregular.
