The Comptroller General of the Republic (CGR) requested information from the Real Estate Registrar regarding the controversial purchase of the former Sierra Bella clinic by the Municipality of Santiago —led by Mayor Irací Hassler (PC)—. This, after the community chief affirmed that she had delivered all the background information and appraisals that the controlling entity requested.
It is worth mentioning that, this time, the Comptroller’s Office requests the background information related to the rejection made by Real Estate when the municipality made the request for registration of the domain of the property that it recently acquired and that generated accusations of a possible overpricing.

Through a statement, the Comptroller confirmed that “several claims have been made before this body against the Municipality of Santiago for a possible overprice in the purchase, by that municipality, of the property located at Calle Sierra Bella No. 1181 , of the commune of Santiago”.
“By virtue of the foregoing and in view of the existence of press publications indicating that this Real Estate Registrar rejected the application for registration of ownership of the aforementioned property that the Municipality of Santiago would acquire, this Control Entity has deemed it pertinent, within the framework of the control actions that correspond to you to develop with respect to that municipality, request you to inform and provide the respective background information regarding the aforementioned rejection,” the text adds.
Let us remember that, according to the precedents, the rejection made by the Real Estate Conversator had two reasons. The first of these was the lack of Mayor Hassler’s identity card in the deed of registration. And, the second, the difference between the fiscal valuation of $1,940 million and the final sale price that exceeded $8,200 million and that motivated, in the first instance, the presentation of a requirement before the Comptroller’s Office by the independent councilor Rosario Carvajal.
