Comptroller officiates to the Municipality of Santiago after the purchase of Clínica Sierra Bella: it will have 10 days to provide background information

The Comptroller General of the Republic officiated at the Municipality of Santiago, headed by Mayor Irací Hassler (PC), and requested a series of background information as a result of the purchase of the Sierra Bella Clinic, which involved an amount of $8,200 million.

The news comes after councilor Rosario Carvajal (IND) accused the current administration of having carried out a “real estate deal” due to the possible overpricing of the clinical center.

“The Municipality of Santiago ends up paying four times the value in relation to the last transaction in December 2022, between the clinic and the San Valentín real estate agency,” Carvajal denounced on January 20 via Twitter.

After an appeal was filed with the Comptroller’s Office, Hassler ruled out the existence of irregularities in the purchase and assured that the process was carried out in accordance with the regulations.

“The value is lower than the average of the three appraisals and, therefore, conforms to the procedures and also to what we know is worth having a clinic in the best conditions for our commune,” the mayor specified at that moment.

The Municipality will have a period of 10 days to respond to the official letter, and the report “must be prepared taking into account all the aspects consulted, with the intervention of the Legal Department or lawyer of that entity, unless the matter raised is unrelated to the application or interpellation of legal or regulatory norms or that that body does not have that professional, having to enter it, together with all the necessary background information, especially the appraisals made”.
