Before the Budget and General Account Commission of the Republic of Congress, the comptroller general nelson shack reported that during the subsequent control actions carried out by that institution, a total of 8,730 officials have been identified, including managers, professionals, technicians and owners, with alleged responsibility for mismanagement of public funds.
In this context, he affirmed that the Comptroller’s Office is empowered to open sanction processes against a thousand of these servers.
During a presentation of the concurrent control activities carried out by the Comptroller’s Office in 2022, Shack said that in that period 2,189 recurring control services were carried out, in which 8,771 adverse situations were detected in public investment works, most of them in the transportation, education, sanitation, housing and health sectors.

Likewise, the head of the control body reported that to date there are 1,879 paralyzed works, whose investment amount amounts to 21 billion soles.
During their interventions, legislators from different benches expressed their concern about the high number of abandoned works and demanded a more articulated work of the Comptroller’s Office with the Public Ministry.
