Municipality carried out negotiation for the premises of a housing cooperative for the mental health center
Vizcaíno, representing the Municipality of Cerro Largo, highlighted the relevance of this project, stating that changes had to be introduced in the internal structure, offices for psychologists and psychiatrists.
«This place meets one of the most important conditions, which is to have the green space in which we are now immersed, which is very important for the issue of mental health. Furthermore, it meets all the conditions that UNICEF proposed to us, being one of the guarantees of this project.»
The building, which was previously a communal property belonging to a neighborhood cooperative, was recovered and conditioned thanks to the joint effort of the Municipality of Cerro Largo and the Ministry of Social Development (MIDES). The collaboration included comprehensive renovations to the premises, such as renovation of paint, ceiling, openings and the creation of specific spaces for the operation of the technical team.
«The Municipality did all the initial negotiation with the neighborhood cooperative and then carried out a complete reform that included the construction of personalized care offices, where psychologists and psychiatrists will work. I especially want to highlight the work of the works and architecture team led by Javier Ottonelli,” stressed Vizcaíno.
AN INTEGRAL SPACE FOR THE COMMUNITY
The center will offer services by a multidisciplinary technical team and its location was carefully selected for the conditions it offers for the mental health of users. In addition to personalized consultations, the implementation of workshops and group activities that promote emotional well-being is planned.
Vizcaíno also highlighted that the operation of the center will be under the direction of the technical team, which will decide the intervention strategies according to the needs of the community: “Everything will depend on the technical team.”
ONE MORE STEP IN MENTAL HEALTH
The inauguration of this center reflects the commitment of the national and departmental government to mental health, promoting the integration of communities in healthy environments and with adequate resources for early and effective care of their needs.
