The legal investigation for death of five healthy babies born at the Ramón Carrillo Maternal Neonatal Hospital in the city of Córdoba between March and Junewas reinforced with new testimonies and complaints, while families victims of the case were summoned for next Tuesday to “ask for justice” in front of the assistance center.

Within the framework of the case that was made public yesterday, this afternoon the testimony of Yoselín Rojas Gaspar, who told the local media that last June 6 he had a normal delivery in Maternity Hospitalthat her baby had been born healthy and 45 minutes later they told her that she had died due to “cardiorespiratory arrest”.

Like the other four cases, the woman told the local media that after giving birth he was informed that his daughter Angeline had “been born well, healthy and without complications”.But 15 minutes later she is taken to control and after half an hour they told me that He had a cardiorespiratory arrest and died.“, he recounted.

Rojas Gaspar said that until now he had not filed a complaint because the results of the autopsy had not yet been delivered to him, however he pointed out that he felt the need to make his case known so that “justice can be investigated and done for all the children” who they were victims. Yesterday it was formalized first legal complaint by a woman to investigate the death of his granddaughter who, according to what he said, “had been born healthy and in perfect condition” in the early hours of June 6, and several hours later he was notified of the death. “My 17-year-old daughter had started labor on June 5” last and at dawn on the 6th “they told me that my granddaughter had been born in perfect condition” with a little more than 3 kilos and that the mother was also in good health, the woman, identified as Romena Cejas. Almost 24 hours later, at dawn on the 7th, they notified her that the baby had died on the 6th at 6:45 am due to a “decompensation” that caused her two cardiorespiratory arrests, the woman said. Today she also joined the complaint of Vanesa Cáceres, who told Todo Noticias that her baby was born and lived 11 hours in that hospital, and that they informed her that the death had been caused by an arrhythmia. “Our baby was born healthy after performing a cesarean section. They told me he had an arrhythmia, and when I could see him he was already intubated. He lived 11 hours and died on the day,” he said, adding that he was left “with millions of doubts because the doctors did not know how to explain what happened, since it was a totally controlled, totally healthy pregnancy”. Romina and Vanesa are represented by the lawyer Carlos Nayiwho considered “striking and suspicious that the death of five babies occurs in a relatively short space of time, of healthy mothers, with full-term pregnancies and without inconveniences.”

He also took legal action Mariaa woman who had a baby last June 6 at that health center, stated that her daughter was born healthy in the area where the deaths occurred but suffered injuries that were not explained to her.

“My daughter was born well. Hours later she changed color and became cold. The nurse told me it was normal and she left”told channel 12 of Córdoba and added that before the alert that another newborn had also decompensated, the doctors approached and when they observed that the baby was not well, they took her away.

“They return my daughter to me stabilized and with a bruise on her back, which was not there when they took her away,” she assured, adding that she was hospitalized for more than 20 days due to this injury due to an “autopsy” performed in the hospital. back.

The woman pointed out that the doctors tried to blame her and accuse her of having hit or burned the baby, who is fine today but undergoes dermatological treatment for the scar on her back.

The lawyer Daniela Moraleswho represents the woman, said that she asked the prosecutor Raúl Garzón, in charge of the investigation into the death of the babies, to add the case to the file “to determine if there was malpractice or intentionality.”

In addition, he requested that the baby’s family be admitted as a private plaintiff in the process so that “the truth is sought and justice is done.”

“There is a context of coincidence with the facts that are being investigated”said the lawyer, except that in this case “the baby survived.”

The bloc of provincial legislators of radicalism filed a request for the local health minister, Diego Cardozo, attend the unicameral Legislature on Wednesday so that explain about these facts, and demanded that Deputy Governor Manuel Calvo, natural president of Parliament, arbitrate all means for the official to attend. On the other hand a group of parents of the deceased babies convenedfor him next tuesday at 10 in the Maternal Neonatal Hospitall, to all the relatives of the deceased babies to claim for “clarification and justice”.

For its part, Minister Cardozo detailed that the deaths of the babies occurred on March 18, April 23, May 23 and two (deaths) on June 6 of this year, and maintained that those deadly outcomes “are not common” and asked “punish with the full weight of the law” those responsible.

The Ministry of Health made the judicial complaint on July 7 and, according to Minister Cardozo, the Justice was asked to investigate 11 deaths that occurred in those four months, but he specified that “we can infer that six of those cases were due to pathologies that are within chances of death occurring.

“Five were born healthy and had an unexpected, unusual outcome, which is why we requested the investigation and analysis of all the elements that are part of the care they received during delivery and after birth”Cardozo considered.

The provincial government appointed this Friday the new hospital authoritieswhile 23 employees are kept separated from their duties. In the meantime the public prosecutor Garzon started to take statements from nine nurses, and asked for details of the medical records and other documentation on the supply of injectable dosages to deceased babies, particularly with regard to potassium, in addition to the two autopsy studies that were carried out.
