“People who were previously employed in the formal economy seek shelter in the informal economy and that is where they need productive loans to carry out that business idea that allows them to generate income for their family,” Patricio Diez Bonilla, general director of the Bank.
For the manager, despite the environment of high inflation and an economic slowdown, the bank’s goal is to grow the portfolio in double digits.
“In contexts of economic slowdown, the number of people who need credit grows, so we see it important to continue focusing on customer service,” said Diez Bonilla.
In previous days, the S&P agency published a report in which it said that weak employment and inflation will be the factors that will stop credit growth this year from traditional banks. Compartamos Banco is an entity dedicated to microcredit.
Compartamos Banco also reported that in the last quarter of the year it reached a credit portfolio of 26,769 million pesos, which meant a growth of 21.2% compared to the last quarter of 2020.
2021 closed with 2.5 million clients, which meant a growth of 15%.
