In Cerro Largo it provides workshops in educational centers and with neighbors
On several issues, the Community Police area of the Cerro Largo Police Headquarters has been working.
“Beyond having the typical function of the police officer, we also have two basic tasks that are: the approach to the different public and private entities as well as priority to work with the educational and teaching centers” explained the Sub Commissioner Jenifer Clavijo.
“That is why different types of workshops are carried out, approaches, evaluations of the areas are made” said.
Regarding work in educational institutions, this is done indistinctly in primary centers such as Secondary and Professional Technical Education (UTU).
“Different workshops have been issued throughout the year. From March to date we carry between 35 and 40 ranging from preschool to adults or neighbors from a certain area that request a certain workshop” He held during the live interview of THE PROFESSIONAL RADIO.
“The themes are varied” Clavijo was pressed. “They are carried out according to the ages and the subject requested by people. For example, much has been given in relation to the crime of fraud, coexistence in housing complexes, among others” He added.
“A second task of ours is the preparation of projects” reported. “At this time we are working on the seventh project. This includes an analysis to determine what the situation that would be affecting the area or the place” said.
“We focus attention especially in the decline of crime” accurate. “We orient ourselves to prevent and also analyze why there is a certain crime or certain situations in certain places” said.
These projects are quarterly. “We have that period to analyze the situation and be able to get down, but in turn continue with it” Sub -commissioner Jenifer Clavijo held.
Prevention of businesses
In this seventh project the Community Police is pointing to the prevention of the crime of theft of shops.
“The study area that was seen at that time most affected includes part of the jurisdiction of section 1 and also part of section 2nd. There is delimited a quadrant. The entire jurisdiction of both sectionals is not taken, but a territory is demarcated” explained.
“We have already started working. We are doing surveys in the different businesses where the police interview, approaches and consults how the neighbor perceives security, if you notice the police presence. In turn, certain questions are asked about the security system, whether or not it counts that place” reported.
For the delimitation of this area, the police are based on the number of complaints. “The causes are studied, what are the reasons for the prevalence of that crime, it is for lack of police presence. We not only focus on what corresponds to us as police officers, but also made that connection with other entities.”
He commented that in a previous project the task was oriented to theft of motorcycles in the city of Melo. “We had many areas that were dark. Part of that darkness was because part of the woodland covered the lights of light. From there we talked to the intention that collaborated with us doing pruning” Jenifer Clavijo highlighted.
This lack of lighting at night due to the branches of the trees also hindered the scope of security cameras, a fundamental element in clarifying the theft of Birrodados.
