Two men were detained by community members from Pampa Michi, in Chanchamayo, when they tried to take parts of heavy machinery used in work on the Pichis Palcazú Special Project.

The alleged perpetrators, identified as David Torres Salinas (57) and Jaime Alberto Torres Enríquez (45), were caught transporting a backhoe hood valued at more than S/ 4,000 in a white Toyota truck (plate B4S-924).

The event occurred on the morning of October 28, when the workers had left the machinery on the banks of the Chanchamayo River. When alerted by a neighbor, community members led by Nelly Capurro, head of the community, managed to intercept the vehicle and hand over the detainees to the Perené Police, who then transferred them to the La Merced Police Station.
The Public Ministry is investigating those arrested for the alleged crime of aggravated attempted robbery.
