Starting at midnight this Friday, residents and transport unions from the Ingavi province installed a blockade on the route to the border town of Desaguadero. The mobilized demand the construction of the double lane to Río Seco, a work that was presumably postponed for more than 10 years.
“We have not been listened to by the Government, nor by the Government, so for that reason we as Marka Desaguadero, also from Suyo Ingavi, have decided to block the roads until the last consequences. That the central government listen to us, because we have been postponed since 2011, which is the Río Seco – Desaguadero highway,” said the executive of the Ingavi province, Juan Chipana, in a Red Uno report.

The leader warned that the pressure measure will not be lifted until a response is obtained from the government authorities.
On the other hand, in the interprovincial terminal the travelers complained about the damage caused by the protest and denounced that the price of the tickets doubled.
“I am a merchant who travels through Desaguadero every Friday and Tuesday, but now this blockade is two-way, until further notice, ‘until they are fixed’ they say, and now the mobilities carry the price they want. The passage that was 15, 20 bolivianos is now 30, 40, up to 50 bolivianos knows how to get to the blockade,” said one of the people from that point in El Alto.
