SANTO DOMINGO.- People flocked to the places established for the “Government in the provinces” conference, and took advantage of the spaces to let off steam in front of the corresponding officials.
The lack of water, citizen insecurity, street repairs, housing, lack of cultural and sports spaces, drainage solution, as well as the completion of schools, are just some of the problems that the representatives of the communities that participated in different sectors of the National District and Santo Domingo.
In constituency number 3 of the capital, where the director of Customs, Eduardo Sanz Lovatón, the mayor Carolina Mejía, senator Faride Raful, among other officials and legislators, were present, people expressed themselves, some looked pleased and others seemed to ‘be they had it saved’ for that moment.
They don’t face
Apart from the common demands, it was repeated several times and intensely, it was the complaint that the officials do not go to the neighborhoods, do not meet with the bases or answer the phones.
Every time a community member talked about these issues, those present applauded and shouted affirming this complaint, and some even shouted “and they’re going out there”, expressing their discontent with the officials.

Sanz Lovatón acknowledged that those who express themselves in this way are right, and said that officials have to be more present, answer the phones, and that people demand it of them.
The same thing happened in constituencies 1 and, with Milagros Germán and Victor -Ito- Bisonó, in Santo Domingo Este, where the Minister of Tourism David Collado was, in Santo Domingo Norte, where Fellito Suberví led, accompanied by the Minister of Energy and Mines, Antonio Almonte; the director of the Community Technology Centers, Isidro Torres; the governor of Santo Domingo, Julia Drullard, director of Public Works Projects and Programs, Cesar Lebrón.
In the National Palace were the Vice President Raquel Peña, the Ministers of the Presidency, Lisandro Macarrulla, of Education Roberto Fulcar, of Public Works, Deligne Ascención and the director of the National Health Service, Mario Lama.
There the vice president said that with that day they are sending a message, but not a hollow message but with actions.
“A message that we are working 24/7 to achieve what the Dominican people need and it is precisely that the government in a united way is going to work in each of the corners of the country to meet the needs of all the Dominican people”, Pena said.
The bases and jobs
The PRM militancy also took advantage of the different forums to reiterate their need for jobs, something they have been demanding since the party came to power in August 2020.
The officials have the task of meeting again with the community representatives to bring answers to their demands.
In the activities carried out throughout the country, they highlighted the works carried out by the Government, the investments that these entail and the plans to be executed in the different territories.
President Luis Abinader ordered his officials to listen to the population throughout the country, after a government council held last Wednesday. The president was not part of the day.
