“I regret that in the first instance, the Court has reacted so lukewarmly, with an almost fearful prolixity in the conception of that ambiguous request for permission that Antonio Frentes raised. How is it possible that he pretexts urgent health problems to be absent from his inherent administrative responsibilities as president of the Court, but continues to maintain his jurisdictional powers over the constitutional chamber? He maintained that if Fretes continues without resigning, the credibility of the members of the Court will be affected.
“This can lead to an endless legal labyrinth and contaminate the other members of the Supreme Court of Justice,” he said.
Finally, he said that it does not only depend on Antonio Fretes for his resignation from office, but also on other factors such as organized crime, and powerful business and political groups.
