In the early hours of last Sunday, the traditional marking of the community of Tambomachay, located in Sacsayhuamán, was carried out. The activity began in the Quesarq’asa sector and a walk was made to Queser Grande, where the delimitation began, an activity that consists of affirming the boundaries of communal lands.
The Deputy Minister of Cultural Heritage, Sonaly Tuesta, highlighted this tradition inherited by the community and its historical importance to reaffirm the communal limits through milestones as a festive and joyful activity. In addition, he stressed that work will be done on the file to declare this activity as cultural heritage and guarantee its validity and continuity.
The president of the community of Tambochay Eustaquio Alcca, highlighted that the roads of the Qhapaq Ñan pass through the community and that they have preserved for generations. He spoke of the importance of the Qoricocha lagoon, which is adjacent to three provincesCalca, Urubamba and Cusco.
Subsequently, Sonaly Tuesta held a working meeting with groups of Defenders of Heritage Club de Caminantes Cusco and the traditional neighborhood of San Cristóbal, which carry out an important job of raising awareness and promoting the care and protection of cultural heritage.
The Deputy Minister of Heritage thanked civil society for this work and promised to continue supporting these initiatives to make them sustainable over time, since that help in the revaluation and conservation of heritage through creative activities.
For her part, the director of Culture Cusco, Magda Mateos, highlighted that the work of these groups of defenders of heritage has been strengthened with the participation of the Municipality of Cusco and made a call for the creation of the inter-institutional management table, to solve the problem of the cultural heritage of the Historic Center of the city.
