MIAMI, United States. – Social network users reported this week the discovery of the dismembered bodies of three members of a sagüera family in the La Picadora neighborhood, on the outskirts of Santa Clara (Villa Clara). Close people, neighbors and relatives identified the victims as Meivis Díaz Báez, 24 years old; her husband, Yuniel Jiménez, and the latter’s daughter, Yenly Jiménez Pérez, 12 years old.
CubaNet confirmed the crime with two local sources – not related to each other – from Sagua la Grande, where the murdered family resided.
Both the sources consulted on social networks and those consulted directly by this medium confirmed that the alleged aggressor – identified as Yasmany, a resident of Sagua la Grande and with a criminal record for sexual abuse of minors – had been arrested.
Until the time of publishing this note, the competent authorities had not referred, in any way, to the crime.
Reports of bloodshed in Cuba have increased in a context of serious economic and social crisis.
This Tuesday, CubaNet also confirmed the murder of a man in the middle of a fight that broke out in the Ranchón Cohíba restaurant in the San Luis municipality, in Pinar del Río.
The person who offered his testimony anonymously, for fear of reprisals, identified the victim as Yohandry Montesino León, a young man residing in El Corojo, San Luis.
According to the Facebook account “I am from Pinar”related to the Ministry of the Interior (MININT), the victim, approximately 38 years old, was stabbed last Sunday.
In October too transcended the murder of three people in the capital municipality of Centro Habana, during an alleged robbery of a home, as clarified Martí Newsbased on the testimony of the sister of one of the victims.
The sister of one of the victims, Mayda Valido, confirmed to Martí News that his mother, brother and his friend had been asphyxiated inside the house located on San José Street, between Espada and San Francisco, near Trillo Park.
Valido also stated that the Police were “very efficient” and within 24 hours they captured all the murderers. “People do horrible things for money, because there is a lot of scarcity of money,” he said.
Last August, another crime shocked the municipality of Ceballos, in Ciego de Ávila, where two minors and two women were killed during an alleged robbery attempt.
In that case, the victims were Richard Dariel Núñez, a child of just four years old; Lester Rivadeneira Rodríguez, a 17-year-old teenager; Yamila Reyes Tamayo, 29 years old; and Raysa Rodríguez Pérez de Corcho, 50 years old.
In the face of criticism, the authorities have transmitted some trials and have imposed sentences such as life imprisonment in certain cases, seeking to demonstrate actions against criminals. However, activists consider that these measures are not enough and call for strengthening prevention and protection of possible victims.
