The Committee for the Freedom of Political Prisoners demanded that the El Rodeo I prison be recognized as a place where serious human rights violations are committed. «The silence of the authorities only increases the anguish of those who expect answers outside. The lack of information and the conditions of seclusion violate the dignity and rights of detainees »
The Committee for the Freedom of Political Prisoners denounced on Monday, August 4, the “dehumanizing” imprisonment conditions within Rodeo I, a maximum security prison located in the Miranda state and where at least 70 arrested for political reasons are found.
«Rodeo I is a prison that looks like a grave, two -meter cement cells without windows, ventilation or light. There, men without physical contact, without letters (…) what little they receive, soap, deodorant or dental cream are overwhelmed, arrives squeezed in the Ziploc stock exchange, ”said the committee in A publication In social networks.
The organization, which brings together relatives and activists, also stressed that they only receive water for two minutes per day. «Who can see, wash their clothes and survive with that? This is no longer a common prison, but a torture center designed to erase identities and break bodies ».
The committee also described the isolation to which inmates are subjected as part of the “dehumanizing” practices. They pointed out that the incommunication between political prisoners and their families is prolving and, when visits have been allowed, relatives are hooded to be able to enter that prison.
Among the detainees are Josnars Baduel, Henryberth Rivas, Wilder Vásquez, Rafael Tudares Bracho and Oswaldo Castillo. According to Human Rights Organizations, in El Rodeo I prison I are also detained.
“In the rodeo there are no transfers or news, and when a telematic audience occurs, the detainee appears next to his torturer (…) Rodeo is a cemetery of living men,” said the NGO.
The Committee demanded that this penitentiary center be recognized as a place where serious human rights violations are committed. «The silence of the authorities only increases the anguish of those who expect answers outside. The lack of information and the conditions of seclusion violate the dignity and rights of detainees ».
Rodeo does not contain. The Rodeo I disappears.
In this place, justice and rights are lost in the dark. Detained people spend days without water, without visits and without news from their families.
