The Committee for the Freedom of Political Prisoners reported that a group, including several sentenced for Operation Gedeón, were transferred from El Rodeo I to the Yare III prison. The Committee for the Freedom of Political Prisoners confirmed the transfer of detainees from the El Rodeo and Yare III prisons to other penitentiary centers in the country.
In their social networksthe Committee reported that a group of political prisoners, including several sentenced for Operation Gedeón, were transferred from El Rodeo I to the Yare III prison, located in the Valles del Tuy (Miranda state).
The El Rodeo maximum security prison and annex were intervened from the early hours of Saturday, November 23, by the security forces. Visits were suspended and the relatives who were at the scene were not informed of the reason for the seizure.
From the Yare III prison, the Committee noted based on information from relatives, a group of political prisoners detained during this year’s post-election protests were also transferred during the early hours of this Sunday the 24th.
“Those detained in Maracaibo, Barinas and Yaracuy would be taken to Tocuyito,” in the state of Carabobo; while the men arrested in the Tuy, Portuguesa and Anzoátegui Valleys would be transferred to Tocorón, in the state of Aragua.
“They intensify the suffering for the families of political prisoners,” stated the Committee, which will hold a vigil starting at 5:00 pm for the freedom of all those detained for political reasons in the El Rodeo prison.
