The Committee for the Liberation of Political Prisoners (CLIPP) denounced this Saturday, April 19, the suspension of visits to the political prisoners arrested in the El Rodeo I prison, located in the Zamora municipality of the Miranda state.
In their social networksOenegé said the measure was in response to the prayer days they have made to demand respect for human rights and the release of their relatives prisoners for reasons of a political nature.
“Officials alleged that the measure responds to an alleged” incitement to hatred “after the manifestation of faith made last Sunday #13ab, in which relatives prayed and raised prayers for the well -being and full freedom of their loved ones.”
The organization reproached that with this “arbitrary” decision, political prisoners were prevented from receiving the only permitted contact and visit: see their relatives through a glass while talking on a phone for just 15 minutes.
The demands of the Committee
He denounced that the prohibition of visits this Saturday adds to the harassment and persecution of which they have been victims after the realization of the vigil for freedom.
Oenegé members demand:
• The immediate cessation of harassment, intimidation and illegal surveillance against relatives of political prisoners, especially during religious acts or peaceful manifestations.
• The immediate restitution of family visits in Rodeo I, guaranteeing the right to weekly contact and human treatment by the prison authorities.
• The full release of Henryberth Rivas and all political, innocent and imprisoned prisoners only for reasons of consciousness.
The committee made an urgent call to national and international solidarity, and especially to the Catholic and Christian churches.
“Ecclesiastical authorities must raise their voice in defense of the right to religious freedom and the dignity of their faithful, especially when they are harassed by manifesting their faith.”
The call of relatives was also addressed to the Maduro Administration. “We call for reflection and rectification to those who exercise power.”
