In the continuation of the “Global Route for Justice and Peace”, the Committee for the Freedom of Political Prisoners requested on Tuesday 16 to the Government of Switzerland that “solidarity” and that visits the prisons and other centers of seclusion of the more than 800 people arrested for political reasons in the country to verify their situation.
«We have come to solidarity. There are more than a thousand people who do not eat, who have not seen their families, who are in inhuman prisons in Venezuela because someone came up with that freedom is a crime in our country, ”said Diego Casanova, activist and spokesman for the committee, in front of the headquarters of the Swiss Embassy in Caracas.
Family, friends and activists concentrated and hung photos with the faces of the detainees as well as messages such as “Swiss diplomacy can save lives!” or “justice and freedom.” They pointed out that at least 30 European citizens are under arrest for political reasons in the country.
