Nationalist sources told Diario La R that “There are no big problems here today… (these) will be (for the) plenary.” Consequently, they hoped to be able to leave the articles to vote on it starting next Monday in the Chamber.
“Finally, the coalition has agreed on the vast majority of articles that came from the Executive Branch. It has also agreed on what has to do with internal reallocations within the National Budget to achieve very important increases in areas that are very sensitive for us,” said deputy Conrado Rodríguez (Batllistas).
He highlighted that it was possible to increase the items for science, adding to the US$ 4,000,000 foreseen in the original message, new items for a value of US$ 5,000,000. In turn, he affirmed that there will also be increases for Health, both for the benefit of Asse and the MSP.
Another increase that was achieved in Accountability was for the University for the gradual elimination of the Additional to the Solidarity Fund.
According to reports, there are new funds for the University from reallocating profits from Banco República and savings from the National Colonization Institute.
The vote was going to start at 2:00 p.m. the day before, but it was postponed several times, starting the night before.
The Minister of Industry, Energy and Mining, Omar Paganini, was in a Senate group and visited the legislators of the coalition, as well as union leaders. The trade unionist Joselo López confided to Diairo La R that there was an improvement late in the afternoon in the medical licenses of public officials, which was added to what was agreed on Tuesday.
Regarding the Media Law, it was agreed to leave the issue for the Senate. “What we have decided is not to vote in the Chamber of Deputies. Surely, the Senate is going to re-incorporate (the articles)”.
