Commission against Trafficking in Persons, elects a new secretary general

On the afternoon of this Tuesday, November 22, the Commission against Trafficking in Persons, chaired by the Minister of Public Security (Minseg), Juan Manuel Pino, held the first extraordinary meeting of the board of directors to elect the general secretary and the general undersecretary.

After presenting the applicants, the director of the Minseg Human Trafficking Office, Dayra Campos, as general secretary, and psychologist Auriela Martínez as general undersecretary, were elected for a period of five years.

The Ombudsman, Eduardo Leblanc González, participated in this Extraordinary Session, held in the National Aeronaval Service auditorium, who stressed that the Ombudsman’s Office actively participates in the protection of the rights of victims of trafficking and works comprehensively jointly with the entities that are part of the commission in order to strengthen institutional capacities to apply the laws and thus combat this crime.

The National Commission against Trafficking in Persons is chaired by the Minister of Security, Juan Manuel Pino, and its board of directors is made up of 14 state institutions.
