The commemoration of the 211 years of the signing of the independence act in Venezuela, which occurred on July 5, 1811, began with the raising of the flag outside the National Pantheon, in Caracas.

The authorities of the administration of Nicolás Maduro, headed by the Ministers of Defense and Interior, Vladimir Padrino López and Remigio Ceballos Ichaso, began the corresponding protocols around 6:00 am, also accompanied by the Comptroller Elvis Amoroso and other officials. to the military high command.

In his inauguration speech, Padrino López said that this act is done to “exalt our patriotic spirit”, which, according to him, continues to be highlighted by the Chavista government, and recalled the social conditions that existed in the country at the time they began. to give expressions of independence on the part of the Venezuelan indigenous people.

For his part, the head of the ministerial portfolio of the Interior, Justice and Peace, that the country’s soldiers continued in “unity, fight, battle”, because this July 5 is also commemorated as the Day of the National Armed Forces, which , by the way, this year was preceded by a promotion ceremony led by Nicolás Maduro on Monday the 4th of this same month. In it, 219 officers were promoted to the ranks of generals and admirals.

“Is 300 years not enough? Let us fearlessly lay the cornerstone of Latin American freedom, to hesitate is to lose oneself! Today is the day of the Homeland, the day of the people, the day of Independence, of the FANB and of our soldiers,” the official wrote on his social networks.

Already on Saturday, July 2, a total of 15,150 officers and professional troops had been promoted to the next higher rank in the FAN, because, according to the Minister of Defense, “they have shown love and supreme loyalty to the country.”

Nicolás Maduro is expected to give his statements regarding the two celebrations in a parliamentary session in the Chavista National Assembly.
