Mothers usually function as the main column of the family. Sometimes they are single women, who have endured harsh conditions since childhood, and today make great efforts to feed, clothe and educate their children.

Households hit by the pandemic are divided due to daily arguments, precarious living conditions and the search for means to emigrate, including the sale of essential items and even housing.
This year few families can get together for lunch at home or in a restaurant, because their meager income cannot be “squandered”. Money and packages sent from abroad, mainly from Miami, arrive with great difficulty and high cost. And there is no way they can meet the growing needs of Cubans. Thus we come to another Mother’s Day on this Island.
