ComexPerú demanded to avoid unnecessary changes in the cabinet

The current situation requires prudence and decisions aimed at safeguarding the institutional order; a few weeks before the elections, the country needs clear signs of predictability, indicated ComexPerú.

The union urged whoever assumes the presidency of the Republic by constitutional succession to prioritize stability and continuity in the management of the Executive Branch, maintaining most of the current cabinet, except for strictly essential changes.

“This is not a defense of people, but rather preventing the State from stopping in a short transition period, in which it is key to continue what has already been advanced,” he said in a statement.

“In the last 10 years, since 2016, Peru has had seven presidents; the next one will be the eighth,” he added.

ComexPerú said that a large and hasty replacement usually involves restarting processes, reordering equipment and postponing decisions. He indicated that, in practice, it implies starting from zero progress that had already been consolidated, with direct costs for citizens: more uncertainty, less response capacity of the State and delays in urgent decisions.

“The country’s priority must be to guarantee an orderly transition until the elections, preserve the regular functioning of the State and protect the climate of trust that the economy and job creation require,” they stated.

Commitment

ComexPerú said it was willing to contribute with technical proposals and support all decisions aimed at preserving governability and ensuring continuity, for the benefit of citizens and Peru.

He said he reaffirmed his respect for the Constitution and the institutional framework that contemplates political control mechanisms, such as censorship, as long as they are applied responsibly, within due process and with full respect for the democratic order.

“The strength of the institutions depends on these tools being used to preserve governability, not to deepen uncertainty,” he concluded.
