On Thursday night, a motorcyclist identified as Luis Veliz Velásquez lost his life after his vehicle impacted frontally against a combi of the Red Tourism Transport Company, in the Casaracra sector, Km 9 of the Central Highway (La Oroya). According to witnesses, the combi driver, Héctor Martín Tobaoda Ramos, fled after the incident.

The motorcycle companion, Junior Núñez Zanabria, resulted in serious injuries and was transferred to a Huancayo clinic, where his condition is delicate. Likewise, two passengers of the Combi, Mayeli Coachagua Cajahuanca (27) and Fabián Huanuqueño (37), remain under medical observation.

Relatives of the deceased denounced that the Combi would have been making a dangerous career with another unit before the impact and claimed the activation of the SOAT to cover the medical expenses. Prosecutor Sander Flores Saucedo ordered the removal of the body and the police began the corresponding proceedings to find the driver’s whereabouts.
