On June 1, Mexico will live an unprecedented day: citizens will choose judges and magistrates for the first time by direct suffrage. This election enhances legitimacy to the judiciary, but also contains risks of politicization and violations of impartiality. It is not just about casting a vote, but about guarding the foundations of our democracy. The participation of observers does not promote a candidate; safeguard transparency and reinforces the principle of separation of powers.
Being observer implies forming, registering and traveling boxes, but also requires understanding the scope of each election and the impact of each judicial ruling. A sentence issued outside the law is equivalent to a step back in the defense of freedoms. In the same way that we monitor the polls, we must be attentive to the quality of the resolutions, since the effective justice is built day by day, sentence after sentence.
The invitation is open. Any person of legal age can be registered before May 7 at the INE. In the 71 Coparmex business centers, the legality will be monitored, we will document irregularities and the principle of separation of powers will be defended. Observing does not amount to promoting the vote: it means guarding the confidence of society and protecting the rights of Mexicans.
Democracy requires not only electoral participation, but an environment where contracts are respected, laws are complied with and corruption is sanctioned. The rule of law is the guarantee that the rules do not change overnight, nor are they applied arbitrarily. For companies to invest and generate jobs, national and foreign investors must have legal certainty. Legal stability is the raw material of every solid economy.
Observing the judicial election is a necessary, but not enough. We must strengthen the formation of public servants, promote transparency in officials and strengthen the mechanisms of ethics and responsibility. Anti -corruption policy must be articulated from autonomous organisms, with ethics committees that guarantee clean processes and exemplary sanctions.
