Columbus woke up paralyzed! Social groups carry out closures in the province due to the lack of response from the Government

Since the early morning of this Monday, May 9, Colón woke up paralyzed, due to a general strike decreed by the Coalition of Unity for Colón (CUCO), who demand that the authorities give concrete answers in favor of the province.

Closed roads on both coasts of the city, caravan and leafleting is what is done by these organized groups.

These closures are recorded on the highway that leads to the Costa Arriba of Colón as well as the Costa Abajo and communities of Lake Gatún.

A closure is also reported at the height of the Río Alejandro community in the Puerto Pilón corregimiento, which interrupted traffic towards the district of Portobelo, by the residents of the sector.

And on the Costa Abajo, the buses have been placed on the road, interrupting free traffic.

While from Sabanitas, public transport, school buses and some cargo carriers started a caravan from this area, heading towards Cuatro Altos, in which a flyer was made by the members of CUCO.

Edgardo Voitier, a leader, stated that this action was previously announced due to the lack of response from the national government to resolve the social problems of Colón.

Anti-riot agents from the National Police have stationed themselves in the Cuatro Altos area, where the concentration of CUCO members is maintained, in which different sectors of the region participate.

So far, no official statement has been issued by the provincial or national authorities for this general strike.

The CUCO asks for a new bus terminal, the completion of the Manuel Amador Guerrero hospital, jobs, sports stadiums, the start of the culture center, improvements to the roads, drinking water, among other community situations.
