For those who could not move from a pension regime because of their age, there is now the possibility of doing so thanks to the opportunity to transfer.
This option applies to women with 750 or more weeks quoted and men with 900 or more weeks, as of June 30, 2025, no matter your age. People who meet these weeks and have 47 years or more (women) or 52 years or older (men) can initiate the transfer process between colpensions and private funds.
The first step for those who want to move is the double advice, A tool that consists of receiving two orientations: one of colpensions and one from the private fund. This allows you to know differences, benefits and options of each regime to make informed decisions about the future pension.
People who have already reached the pension age (57 years old, 62 years old) can also take advantage of the opportunity for transfer, provided that they meet the requirements of weeks quoted and carry out the double advice. Those who have less than these weeks should not do this process.

How is double advice made?
1. Request the double advice on colpensions or in the private fund:
To start the process, you must communicate with colpensions or with the private fund to which you want to move. You can do it in person in the offices, through the official website or calling the citizen service line. Once the application is made, the entity will assign a face -to -face or virtual appointment, according to its preference and availability.
2. Receive the two complete advice:
The procedure is to receive two detailed orientations. First, Colpensiones will explain your work history, the weeks quoted and the benefits it would have if it remains in the public regime. Subsequently, The private fund will offer you your advice, showing how your pension would workthe differences with colpensions, the advantages of its regime and the possible risks or changes in the benefits.
3. Make an informed decision:
At the end of both advice, you will have all the necessary information to evaluate your options. What dates should take into account to make regime?
July 16, 2026 – Maximum general term:
This date is the limit established to request the transfer of regime, either from colpensions to a private fund or vice versa, provided that it meets the requirements to take advantage of the opportunity to transfer.
It is important to keep in mind that, after this period, it will not be possible to make the transfer under these special conditions, so it is recommended to plan in advance and not leave the application for the last moment.
Dates according to your age if you still do not meet the minimum required:
If you belong to the transition regime and have not yet reached the minimum age to make the transfer, the deadlines vary according to their gender and date of birth.
This means that, if you have not yet reached the corresponding minimum age, you must be attentive to your birthday date, since the exact previous day will be the moment in which you may formally submit your transfer application.
